European Adventure Part VI: Day 7
We were leaving Denmark, but I couldn't be too sad about it because we were headed to Paris!
BONJOUR PARIS! In Copenhagen we again had breakfast in the hotel before we lugged all of our stuff down the street to train station and then to the airport. We said goodbye to my brother as he headed home and made our way on our AirFrance flight to Paris. We landed in Paris to sunshine! It was about 73 degrees today and in the car ride to the hotel I couldn't wait to get to the hotel so that we could drop off our luggage and go explore the city.Okay, so I can admit that I didn't have great love for Paris after the first time I went. It was in my very first European Adventure, I was new to traveling and the weather was horrible in Paris. The beautiful city redeemed itself today though. The weather was perfect and everyone was out enjoying it.
A STROLL ALONG THE SEINEWe walked nearly ten miles along the Seine from the Eiffel Tower to Notre Dame, we passed about eleven bridges on our way. When we got to Notre Dame we went inside and they were having Mass. Notre Dame, of course, is an amazing piece of architecture but still my favorite church building on this trip is the Basilica in Budapest. More than the inside of Notre Dame, I loved the exterior. The photos that we took from behind the back of the building are some of my favorite on this trip so far.
DINNER & A BOOK STORE We found a place to eat dinner close to Notre Dame. There's a good chance it was way overpriced due to the proximity to a tourist attraction, but we didn't care, we were hungry and our feet hurt. A bad combination. After dinner we went to the Shakespeare & Co bookstore. This is an English bookstore on the Left Bank that opened in 1919. It was full of American accents, and there were books everywhere. I bought a children's book about famous Black Americans (I know! In Paris!!), and a book that has short stories about weddings that I thought would be fun to read. After we finished our walk, I came back to the hotel which is so cute and lovely, to enjoy the cosy lounge and soak in being in Europe. I'm writing to you today from this over stuffed couch that's full of huge pillows. The walls are this deep beige color that's not boring or obtrusive. There's crown molding on the ceiling, and ornate furniture fills room. There are two tall candle holders on the coffee table in front of me and I can't help but think about the Danes and their crazy love of candles. This room is meant for many, many relaxing hours. All of this to tell you that I am so very blessed by God to be able to travel like this. We've already seen so much and I'm not even to my favorite place yet. It makes me so content and peaceful to explore, and take photos, and experience new things. I hope that you're enjoying reading about my journey as much as I am enjoying share it with you...
UP NEXT: Versailles! Let's explore another palace and another garden. I feel like it might be my favorite so far?
