European Adventure Part IX: Day One
After a hectic Spring, I decided to treat myself to a trip abroad. I’m headed back to London, Paris, and to Amsterdam for the first time. We’re about good food, long walks, and spending quality time with the people that I care about. Okay, let’s go!
A TRIAL
I was sitting and relaxing, waiting for my flight and journaling, soaking in a new adventure, when I realized that my flight was delayed…Here we go. It was 40 minutes, and then it was an hour. This meant that we were leaving at 11:45pm. Way past my bedtime. I ordered another glass of wine and decided to be open to whatever the plan was. I was finally on vacation.
We finally boarded, but then because we were on the massive Airbus 380, we had to do a taxi pretty much around the entire Tarmac. I was so eager to get up in the air and get to SLEEP. Soon enough, the lights were dimmed and I was able to pass out, so excited for the next day.
The sun was shining when I arrived in London. It was 93 degrees, unseasonably warm! I changed from my sweater and legging into a short black dress. After picking up a toastie from Costa, I was ready to go.
The next delay was on the train into central London. I was starting to get a headache, and I was running behind for meeting up with a friend. Once again, I just had to relax and realize that I just had to be open.
Soon enough, I was Tubing over to Tower Bridge for a delightful catch up with someone that I met in London a few years ago. Spending time with friends in London just makes this place seem even more like a second home. I love it.
A LOVELY EVENING
Next, I went back across town to Kensington for a delicious dinner at Mike’s choice of Maggie Jones. I was delayed once again - the Circle line was single tracking, but I made it! I had a yummy tomato and basil soup, the salmon dish, an vanilla ice cream to finish. The food was flavorful, and the atmosphere was fun. =
After dinner, the three of us walked back to our hotels through Hyde Park watching the sunset set. When I was here in November, I experimented with not having such a regimented plan and being open to what the day might bring. On that leisurely stroll, I felt so rewarded by that openess. It was a lovely way to start European Adventure: Part IX.
UP NEXT: We’re seeing a show and meeting with my London friends!
