European Adventure Part X: Day 7

I woke to a cloudy day. After the adventures of yesterday it seemed like the perfect kind of day to move slowly, but first, time to host breakfast!

TESTING OUT MY KITCHEN

Since I have such a beautiful terrace, I decided to host my friends over for breakfast. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Cooking in an unfamiliar kitchen and converting Celsius to Fahrenheit on the oven, I started questioning things. But I figured out how to turn the stereo on so I had some jams while I was cooking, at least. It all turned out okay, though! I made some baked eggs, French toast, and grilled some vegetables.

Sitting at the dining room table, watching all my friends enjoy my food and soaking in our time together made the work in the kitchen worth it. After breakfast, we all just hung out in my living room with all of terrace doors open.

AN EASY AFTERNOON

After the slow morning, I decided to continue with a slow afternoon. I lounged on the couch reading, writing, and enjoying the stereo. When it was close to time for aperitvo, I decided to walk down so that I could do a little shopping on my way. I found some cute stuff that I can’t wait to use and share when I get home.

The walk was also an adventure because I came across this view that takes to you to the back of the Roman Forum. The city of ancient Rome. It’s so interesting to see these ruins and think about Romans wandering around in their daily life. I also came across a protest that I strategically avoided. I didn’t understand a lot of what they were saying, but I did understand that some of the signs said “patriarchy.”

When I met up with my friends, the day was finished was some drinks sitting outside of a cafe in the neighborhood of Monti. I finally got and Aperol Spritz and it was delicious. It was so nice sitting outside and chatting with my friends. When I do things like that, take things slow in a place that’s not a tourist trap, it makes me feel like I live there. The dinner selection for this day was my choice, and I selected a sushi Brazilian fusion restaurant. Hearing the Portuguese music playing in the restaurant made me miss being in Lisbon.

I headed back to my flat at the end of the evening, so delighted with the day.

UP NEXT: Getting up mad early so that we can go explore Vatican City!
