European Adventure Part X: Day 6
Hello Rome! The sun was shining and I was ready to go out and explore the city. Originally, we’d planned to have my picnic aka Outdoor Dining Experience (ODE) on Wednesday but the weather was looking bad so we decided to move it up to today since the weather was stellar.
BREAKFAST ON THE TERRACE
I have this amazing terrace at my flat. It has a table that can seat six, and then still extends beyond that. I got up and made myself a delicious breakfast, and then sat on the terrace to enjoy it. Soon, I was catching the bus down to the Colosseum.
COLOSSEUM AND THE FORUM
I met up with two of my friends who were also visiting Rome to explore the Colosseum. This is such and interesting building. So much chaos and destruction happened here. It’s also so hard in Rome to wrap my head around how OLD things are. Older than Jesus Christ. We explored for a bit and then headed to the Forum to see that daily like was like in ancient Rome.
OUTDOOR DINING EXPERIENCE
So, I have bad history with this particular group of friends of planning a picnic, and then it rains. This has been going on for about five years. I decided that we weren’t able to call it a picnic, and changed it to outdoor dining experience. I love picnicking, and wanted to have the same experience like I did at Versailles last year.
We met up with the rest of the friend group at an outdoor food market. We all went our separate ways to get some charcuterie, bread, and fruit. Then we walked straight up hill to one of the peaks in the city. I’m happy to say that it was a successful ODE. The weather was perfect, the view was stunning, and we had a wonderful time.
ODDEST WALKING TOUR EVER
We had some time to kill, so we hung out at my place which was about a 10 minute walk from the picnic spot. We then headed across town to the walking tour. It was an interesting one…there was nothing specifically wrong with it, but it wasn’t the typical format which threw me off a little. My feet were also screaming at this point, so I was a bit distracted.
A LOVELY DINNER
The walking tour ran over, so we had to dip. We took the bus back across town to delightful spot where we had an amazing dinner. I had my first aperol spritz, and lamb. It was a lovely walk to finish an even lovelier day.
UP NEXT: Breakfast at my place, and then unclear since we had the picnic today. Maybe a chill day.
